Amy Vazquez is passionate about investing her time and energy in educating struggling readers in Bridgeport, Connecticut through Rise To Read. She brings 29 years of service as a Special Education teacher in the Bridgeport Public School system, and is committed to seeing breakthroughs in the lives of the children served by Rise To Read.

Whether mentoring one-on-one or supporting larger efforts, Amy’s passion goes beyond Bridgeport. She supports initiatives in Haiti, Belize, the Dominican Republic, an India. In Haiti, she works with a team that is establishing a vocational school to serve children residing in the remote mountainous regions of Marmont.

Amy is driven to have a lasting positive effect in the lives of those around her. Amy Vazquez is the mother of three beautiful daughters, the grandmother of ten energetic grandchildren, and the devoted spouse of one.
