Bringing Hope to Children Through Literacy
Rise To Read Featured by the Lausanne Movement
We’re honored to share that Rise To Read was recently featured by the Lausanne Movement, highlighting the heart, history, and mission behind our literacy work in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
The article reflects on how Rise To Read began out of a simple but urgent realization: many children in our city were struggling to read at grade level, limiting their academic confidence and future opportunities. What started as prayer and concern grew into a community-driven response—bringing together certified teachers, volunteers, families, and local churches to help children build foundational reading skills.
The Lausanne Movement piece recognizes literacy as more than an educational issue—it’s a pathway to hope, empowerment, and long-term change. Through reading instruction rooted in care, encouragement, and faith, Rise To Read aims to interrupt cycles of poverty and help children discover both the joy of reading and the belief that they can succeed.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to share our story with a global audience and remain committed to serving children and families through literacy, community partnership, and hope.
